Contest Information
and Entry Rules

  1. Theme: Unlocking Mystery & Discovery at the Library
  2. Contest Submission Period: September 5 – October 21, 2023

  3. Participants must be 13 to 19 years of age, have a Miami-Dade Public Library System card and be a resident of Miami-Dade County. Don’t have a library card? Visit ecard.mdpls.org to sign up and receive one via email.

  4. All artwork must be the original work of the artist and can be created digitally or by hand.

  5. Limit one entry per artist. Digital entries must be submitted no later than midnight on October 21, 2023. Hand-drawn entries are also welcome and can be submitted at any MDPLS library location from September 5 - October 21 by 6 p.m. The submissions must contain:

    • Participant’s name
    • Address
    • Phone number
    • Email address
    • Branch
    • School (if applicable)
    • The following language for electronic certification:
      “I certify that the design submitted is mine and is completely original and does not violate any copyright laws. I grant the Miami-Dade Public Library System (MDPLS) permission to use my name, creative work and visual image in its publications without recourse.”
  6. Library staff will consider originality, audience appeal and the best interpretation of the theme when judging entries.

  7. The winning entry and runners-up will be asked to provide their original artwork and will be contacted with further submittal instructions. If the original artwork is not available, the entry will be disqualified.

  8. The winner and runners-up will be announced in November 2023 and will receive prizes. The winning design will be reproduced as a special limited edition library card and made available at all Miami-Dade Public Library System locations.

  9. All entries become the property of the Miami-Dade Public Library System.

  10. Miami-Dade Public Library System employees are not eligible to participate.

Teen Library Card Design Contest Finale

Join us on Saturday, November 11 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the West Kendall Regional Library as we reveal the top three designs and winner of the Teen Library Card Design Contest! The winner and two runners-up will be presented with prizes. After the ceremony, enjoy an interactive break-in escape room.
