The Miami-Dade Public Library System offers a wide range of sensory-friendly programs and events designed for families and children with special needs and neurodiverse individuals – and anyone who could benefit from a welcoming and inclusive environment – along with resources and recommended reads to promote increased awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Talking Books
The MDPLS Braille & Talking Books Library loans audio and Braille books and magazines, along with a player, free by mail to persons who have difficulty reading or using printed books.

Sensory friendly kit items

Library Sensory Kits

Sensory Kits are available at all library locations for in-library use. The kits contain items that can help create a calming and soothing effect, including fidget strings, squeezable toys and more. Noise reducing ear muffs are also available. Kits are available to all ages.

Listen through a whisper-ma-phone as you travel through the grickle grass and truffula trees to discover the story of the Lorax in a brand-new way, immersed through your senses. Presented by Kiddz Sense. Materials will be provided. Registration is required. All ages.
