Fall into Winter Reading Challenge

Read for fun and prizes! Every 30 minutes you spend reading or listening to a book earns you an entry into a prize drawing at the end of the challenge. The more you read, the greater your chances of winning!  eBooks, eAudiobooks, comic books, magazines, reading to your child – all reading counts. Search the Library’s catalog to find great titles – all you need is a library card. Don't have one? Sign up for an eCard to get immediate access to our online library.

You can earn more chances to win by attending any library program. Every event you attend gets you an additional entry into the drawing. Just make sure to add it to your online reading and activity log.

   More Ways to Participate

Children and teens can read for fun and at the same time earn their Accelerated Reader (AR) points. The Accelerated Reader program helps students in grades K-12 become confident, lifelong readers as they work toward personalized goals, reading books based on their grade level and earning points by completing quizzes about them. Parents and caregivers can also join in by reading for leisure, setting a good example for children who tend to read more when they see adults doing the same.

Students participating in the Library's Homework Help & Tutoring Program can log their tutoring time as additional entries into the prize drawing. Free tutoring sessions with certified teachers are available in person at select branches on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and online on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tutoring is available in reading, math and science. For more information, visit www.mdpls.org/tutor.

Upgrading your skills for life, work and school through the Adult Learning Academy earns you additional chances to take home prizes. Free ten-week courses are available Monday - Thursday from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. and 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. for adults 18 and older who live in Miami-Dade County. Each class session can be added to your log for an additional prize entry. For more information and to register, visit www.mdpls.org/adultlearning or email adultlearning@mdpls.org.
