Miami‑Dade Public Library Offers YOUmedia On‑the‑Go at the Miami Lakes Branch
– New Program Helps Teens Develop Technology Skills –
(Miami, FL — August 14, 2014) Mentors from YOUmedia On‑the‑Go, a new outreach program of YOUmedia Miami, will share their knowledge at the Miami Lakes Branch Library in a series of free workshops designed to expose teens to the technology skills of the 21st century.
YOUmedia On‑the‑Go is bringing the mentors and resources of YOUmedia Miami to teens, ages 13‑19 years old, throughout Miami‑Dade County with free 4‑week workshops on digital video production, graphic design and music production. Participating teens will create final products using the skills they learned through hands‑on instruction with professional software and equipment.
YOUmedia On‑the‑Go launches at the Miami Lakes Branch Library — 6699 Windmill Gate Rd, Miami Lakes, FL 33014, 305‑822‑6520 — with a “Graphic Design and Video Production” series on September 9, 17, 23, and 30 from 6‑8 p.m. In this series, participants will learn how to use professional graphic design software and how to plan, film and edit digital video projects. To register, please visit the Miami Lakes Branch Library. Registration requires a commitment to all workshops, a willingness to work in groups and an enthusiasm to showcase completed work. In October, teens will showcase their final products to the public.
