The Miami-Dade Public Library System offers a diverse array of sensory-friendly programs and events year-round. During Autism Acceptance Month in April, we invite you to explore programs and events designed for children and families with special needs, neurodiverse individuals and anyone who could benefit from a welcoming and inclusive environment, along with resources and recommended reads to promote greater awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Talking Books

The Miami-Dade Public Library System's Braille & Talking Books Library loans audio and Braille books and magazines, along with a player, free by mail to persons with special needs and those who have difficulty reading or using printed books.

Library Sensory Kits

Sensory Kits are available at all library locations for in-library use. The kits contain items that can help create a calming and soothing effect, including fidget strings, squeezable toys and more. Noise reducing ear muffs are also available. Kits are available to all ages.

Listen through a whisper-ma-phone as you travel through the grickle grass and truffula trees to discover the story of the Lorax in a brand-new way, immersed through your senses. Presented by Kiddz Sense. Materials will be provided. Registration is required. All ages.
