Improvements Are Coming to Your Library!

The South Dade Regional Library will be closed starting Sunday, May 25, 2025, for approximately a year and a half for a major renovation project that will improve and modernize your library.

Renovations and Improvements Include:

Complete interior renovation and modernization of the building
Redesigned atrium/lobby with multi-functional stair seating
Addition of a second auditorium for events and programs
Study rooms and privacy pods for individual/group study and coworking
New Passport Services Office
New YOUmedia Miami technology space
Fully renovated Children’s Room with dedicated storytelling area
Sensory-Friendly Room for neurodivergent individuals
"Catio" lounge for adoptable cats in partnership with Miami-Dade County Animal Services

New shelving and furniture with USB and electrical charging ports
New carpeting, flooring and painting
Renovated public restrooms with new finishes and low-flow fixtures
New desktop computers and laptops for public use
Wireless network upgrade to Wi-Fi 6 for faster connectivity
Modernized electrical, data and telecom connections/wiring throughout
New acoustical ceilings and energy-efficient lighting throughout
Elevator modernization
