The Miami-Dade Public Library System recognizes that summer is a time when children and teens have a tendency to stop reading. This behavior often leads to a decline in performance when they return to school. Youth who read throughout the summer maintain or gain new skills which help them start off the new school year with a better understanding of the world around them. The Library System is doing its part to keep youth motivated and to keep them reading with its Summer Reading Program by offering a number of fun activities at all of its branches throughout the community.
Reading is not the only thing to do at the library. Kids who visit their local branch will find a variety of activities which may include appearances by popular authors and storytellers, wildlife and science shows, arts & crafts, chess clubs, anime, manga and video gaming competitions, just to name a few! |
