Residents in northeast Miami-Dade now have a new, temporary library thanks to space made available by the City of Aventura. The Northeast Branch Library has relocated to the mezzanine level of the Aventura City Hall located at 19200 West Country Club Drive. At 1,200 square feet, the new location is open and airy and provides patrons a much needed improvement to their library experience.
Severe roof damaged caused by Hurricane Wilma forced the Northeast Branch Library to close its doors. Since that time, area residents have been utilizing services through the Library’s Bookmobile which has been parked outside the building.
“The City of Aventura has been very generous to donate this space to the library system; we are glad to see that City officials recognize the value the library has on residents,” stated Library System Director Raymond Santiago. “Giving residents this option is a wonderful thing and we look forward to delivering services from our new location.”
At the new location, patrons can check out lap tops, DVDs or their favorite books. Library cardholders can also take part in the Borrow by Mail service which delivers library materials directly to their doors for a small fee of just $2.
The Northeast Branch Library at Aventura City Hall will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. For more information, please call (305) 375-BOOK, or log on to www.mdpls.org |
