A Land Purchase Unveiling ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 21st at the future site of the Arcola Lakes Branch Library, 799 NW 81st Street. The Library will occupy two acres of a 9.25 acre parcel that will also house a Miami-Dade Police Station and a Community Action Agency Headstart facility.
Participating in the ceremony were Miami-Dade Commissioner Dorrin D. Rolle, City of North Miami Councilman Jacques Despinosse, Robert Parker director, Miami-Dade Police Department, Ophelia Brown-Lawson, executive director Community Action Agency, Naim Erched, assistant director, Miami-Dade Police Department, Major Sheila Thomas, Miami-Dade Police Department, Library Director Raymond Santiago and Roger Hernstadt director, Miami-Dade Office of Capital Improvements.
Funding for the Arcola Lakes Branch Library, a7500 square-foot facility, is made possible through the Library System’s Capital Plan which calls for the construction of 10 libraries and the opening of eight storefront libraries by Fiscal Year 2010. Groundbreaking for the Arcola Lakes Branch Library is scheduled for the summer of 2007, with a projected construction completion in late 2008. |
