Miami-Dade Public Library System In Partnership With Detroit Public Television Presents Arab American Stories: A National Dialogue
MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DETROIT PUBLIC TELEVISION PRESENTS
ARAB AMERICAN STORIES: A NATIONAL DIALOGUE
(MIAMI, APRIL 11, 2013) – Miami-Dade Public Library System, in partnership with Detroit Public Television’s national outreach program presents Arab American Stories. The event highlights Arab Americans from all walks of life, and puts a human face on the Arab American experience. Since the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, much of the national news media discourse has stereotyped Arabs, Arab Americans and Muslims and has often times created a negative image of Arab – Americans. Arab American Stories works to counteract this one – dimensional narrative by offering a glimpse into the diversity of experiences and perspectives from within a community that has been a part of American society since the late 19th century.
Join us for a partial screening of Arab American Stories followed by a community conversation led by Al Maloof, Managing Director of GJB Consulting LLC, an affiliate of the Genovese, Joblove & Battista law firm. For more information, contact 305.375.5180.
