Miami-Dade Public Library System

(MIAMI, MAY 15, 2012) The Miami Dade Public Library System is pleased to announce the winners of its 2012 Teen Poetry Contest. Poems were judged on originality, artistic quality and emotional impact. More than 200 entries were submitted. The first prize winner receives a Kindle Touch 3G E-reader and the second place winner receives a $50 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble.

Winners:
1st Place: Can You Imagine Hell? Millie Rogers – Miami Beach Regional Library.
2nd Place: My Child Janay Blakely – Coral Reef Branch

Honorable Mentions:
Acceptance by Bernice Vernet, The One by Kenneth Wilson, Jr., The Trees by Adrian Fresnedo, Who Am I? by Priya Pershadsingh and  A Watery Palette by Danielle Coogan.
