MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM WELCOMES ARTIST & AUTHOR KADIR NELSON
The public is invited to a special book signing and meet and greet with award-winning American artist, Kadir Nelson on Thursday, November 10, 3 p.m. at the Main Library – 101 West Flagler Street in downtown Miami.
Nelson’s works have been exhibited in major national and international publications, institutions, art galleries, and museums. Among his many achievements, Nelson has also gained acclaim for the artwork he has contributed to several New York Times Best-selling picture books including his authorial debut, WE ARE THE SHIP: The Story of Negro League Baseball, winner of the Coretta Scott King and Robert F. Sibert Awards. Currently, Nelson’s cover artwork is featured on pop icon Michael Jackson’s first posthumous album MICHAEL.
The book follows the exhibition WE ARE THE SHIP: The Story of NEGRO LEAGUE BASEBALL which will be on display at the Freedom Tower Gallery until from November 3, 2011 - January 8, 2012.
