MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM'S NEW ARCOLA LAKES BRANCH IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS! GRAND OPENING CEREMONY SLATED FOR OCTOBER 3

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and County Commissioner Jean Monestime invite the community to a ribbon-cutting and grand opening ceremony for the newly constructed Arcola Lakes Branch Library, 8240 N.W. 7th Ave on Monday, October 3rd, 10 a.m.

The 9,670-square-foot branch library occupies two acres of a 9.25 acre parcel that will also house a Miami-Dade Police Station and a Community Action Agency Headstart facility. The building’s design incorporates an abundance of green spaces which includes a large outside area perfect for storytimes and other programming.  The high ceilings and windows offer natural lighting and there are special areas for teens and children. All of the shelving is moveable which allows for easy re-configuration.

Arcola Lakes Branch is the last library to be constructed under the Library System’s 2001 Capital Plan initiative which made possible the opening of ten storefront libraries in area shopping centers and the construction of eight new libraries: Golden Glades, International Mall, Virrick Park, Kendale Lakes, Pinecrest, Naranja, Palmetto Bay and Arcola Lakes Branches. The new Hispanic Branch, which opened in the fall of 2010, was a relocation of an existing branch.
