MIAMI-DADE PUBLIC LIBRARY SYSTEM CELEBRATES 'EARTH DAY' AND THE INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF FORESTS
Join eco-artist Edwin Villasmil for a special green art workshop!
The United Nations General Assembly declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests. In commemoration, the Miami-Dade Public Library System will welcome eco-artist Edwin Villasmil who will present a Save the Forest Art Workshop. The workshop features video and sounds of the rain forest, an art activity and the opportunity to learn about this important ecosystem which has been dubbed the “lungs of the earth.” The workshops are free and open to all ages. Additional Earth Day celebrations are taking place throughout the month in branches.
