Miami, Fl – As part of National Children’s Book Week, the Miami-Dade Public Library held its annual Make a Bookmark Contest and its December 17 celebration at the Main Library featuring winners from all branches. Entitled “My World Through Books”, the contest required entrants, ages 6-12, to draw a picture of their favorite character or scene from a book they love and fill out the entry form. The grand prize winner was Bianca Martinez, who attends the Coral Reef Branch Library and resides at 804 NW 10 Street in Miami. Bianca was chosen from the group of branch finalists and had her design reproduced for use by the Library System throughout 2006. Her winning picture was proudly displayed in a huge cake at the December celebration. All winners gathered at a party at the Main Library on Saturday, December 17, enjoying music, games, foods and a fabulous performance by Funny Bones. Special thanks to The Children’s Trust for sponsoring various children’s events.
