Miami-Dade Public Library System Opens Sunset Branch

(MIAMI, November 26, 2007) – The Miami-Dade Public Library System has extended its network of branches with the opening of the Sunset Branch Library on Monday, November 19. Residents of Kendall and the surrounding areas of Miller Road and Sunset Drive can now enjoy the services of the library located at 10855 SW 72 Street, in the Sunset Strip Plaza Shopping Center.

The 2,950 square foot facility gives patrons access to a collection of nearly 19,000 materials including books, DVDs, CDs and audio books. Eight computer terminals and six laptops are available, as well as free Internet access in a Wi-Fi environment. Patrons also have the option of checking out their own materials at two express checkout units.

Operating hours are Monday, Thursday and Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 11:30 a.m. – 8 p.m., and closed on Friday and Sunday.

Sunset Branch Library is the forty-third library in the system and the last of the10 leased storefront facilities that have opened in area shopping centers in the past seven years.

The Library System currently has five branches under construction in the areas of Pinecrest, Coconut Grove’s Elizabeth Virrick Park, Kendale Lakes, International Mall, and Naranja.
