Miami-Dade FL - Celebrate the wonderful world of reading at your Miami-Dade Public Library during National Children’s Book Week, November 13-19.
More Books Please! is the theme of the 87th annual event, which celebrates the written word andintroduces young people to new books, authors, illustrators and ideas.
During Children’s Book Week, the Library System encourages young people and their families to discover the wonders of the world through books and offers an exciting lineup of programs to engage and entertain.
From November 1 through the 19th, budding young artists, ages 6-12, are encouraged to participate in the annual Make a Bookmark Contest - Feast with a Good Book- by submitting a drawing of their favorite character or scene from a book they love. At the close of the contest, all entrants will be invited to a party at their local branch library. As part of the grand prize award, the child who creates the winning bookmark will have their bookmark reproduced for use by the Library System during 2007.
Bookmark contest entry forms are available at all branch libraries beginning November 1st. Deadline for entry submission is Monday, November 20. For more information on Children’s Book Week please visit www.mdpls.org or call 305-375-BOOK.
Events for National Children’s’ Book Week are funded in part by a grant from the Children’s Trust.
