Miami, Fl – The Edison Center Branch Library, 531 NW 62 Street, will reopen its doors on October 20th after undergoing major renovations. The total rehabilitation project, budgeted at $161,000, included new flooring, ceiling, lighting, shelving and furnishings as well as computer rewiring. The Miami-Dade Public Library System invites the community to attend a rededication ceremony at the branch on Wednesday, October 20 at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will be attended by Dr. Barbara Carey-Shuler, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners.
First of the “library-built” branches, Edison Center first opened on March 6, 1956. In 1991, the original 4,600 square-foot building was remodeled and enlarged to 6,500 square feet with more than 28,000 items.
Across the street from Miami Edison Senior High School and two blocks from Edison Middle and Edison Park Elementary Schools, the library serves a large young adult community. Today, the library houses collections of English, French Creole, Spanish and Black history materials to serve its users’ needs.

Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Closed Friday and Sunday
