Celia Cruz Exhibit and Month-Long Programs For All Ages
Miami, Fl. September 10, 2004 - - The Miami-Dade Public Library System is holding a month-long celebration of Hispanic Heritage 2004, bringing an extensive series of commemorative events to its various branches. Hispanic culture is featured through author presentations, lectures, folkloric performances and art exhibits such as Taíno, with artistic and pre columbian objects of top museum quality.
Of particular interest to the South Florida community is the exhibit Presenting Celia Cruz by the internationally acclaimed photographer Alexis Rodriguez-Duarte, her longtime friend. There’s more for the family, like Teatro Avante’s presentation of La Feria De Los Inventos, musician and author José Luis Orozco singing to the children at the Main Library on Saturday, October 2, and Ramón Colás, founder of the Independent Libraries in Cuba, who will talk about literary censorship in Cuba.
A schedule of current activities now follows and information on art exhibits is attached. Photos are available upon request.
