CELEBRATE TEEN READ WEEK- OCTOBER 11-18 AT MIAMI DADE PUBLIC LIBRARIES
MIAMI DOLPHINS PARTNER TO ENCOURAGE TEENS TO READ (Miami, October 1, 2008)– Graphics novels, comic books and magazines are just a few of the materials that teens, 12-19, are being asked to read during Miami-Dade Public Library System’s celebration of Teen Read Week, October 11-18. The Library System will join bookstores, schools and other libraries across the country in celebrating this event, which encourages teens to “take time to read just for the fun of it.”
Miami-Dade County teens can also share their poetry, short stories or excerpts from their favorite books during Word-a-Thons scheduled at various branches throughout the system. Participants will be awarded community service hours, and will receive t-shirts and other prizes. Current and former Miami Dolphins football players will join in these events to share their experiences and to emphasize the importance of reading.
For a list of Word-a-Thon dates and locations call 305-375-BOOK (2665).
Teen Read Week programs are sponsored in part by the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
