Miami, Fl – Miami-Dade Public Library’s Project L.E.A.D. invites year-round residents above high school age to become reading tutors. After completing a two hour orientation, and a twelve hour training session, the new tutor is eligible for placement with a student. Student and tutor meet twice weekly for sixty to ninety minutes, at a time agreed upon in advance and in a convenient library of their choice.
Volunteers make a difference for parents needing to help kids struggling with their homework; deacons and pastors who need to polish their reading skills for Bible reading; students needing to pass an exam and many more.
There are over eighty adult learners desperately seeking a Tutor.
Those interested in volunteering can call 305-375-5323. Everyone is invited to attend a two hour orientation on October 1st, 2005 at the North Dade Regional Library starting at 1:00 p.m. Location: 2455 NW 183rd Street.
Having attended the orientation, those still interested in becoming a tutor can complete the training and earn tutor certification by attending a twelve hour workshop, to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both Saturdays, October 8th and October 15th.
