Miami, Fl – Effective September 1, Miami-Dade Public Libraries are embarking on a countywide campaign bringing a message of solutions and infinite resources to all neighborhoods: the Library Card is The Smartest Card. Get it. Use it @Your Library.
Observed each September since 1987, Library Card Month is a time when librarians across the country remind parents that a library card is the most important school supply of all.
To librarians, service is the focus and mission of their profession. Not only they are eager to serve residents throughout all neighborhood libraries and bookmobiles, but they can also help through the E-mail electronic service “Ask-A-Librarian”, which enables patrons to ask questions 24/7, 365 days of the year from wherever they have access to the Internet. Whether it is through library services for the homebound, student homework tutoring, foreign language instruction, Jump Start for toddlers, Talking Books for those with low vision, career research, programs for children and young adults, the Library Card has positively changed the lives of Miami-Dade families, from children to seniors.
