(Miami-Dade County FL) On July.7, the Miami-Dade Public Library System invites everyone to “combat the climate crisis and support Live Earth (a worldwide day of concerts to raise awareness of global warming) by doing seven things to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Everglades National Park and the publication of Marjory Stoneman Douglas' The Everglades: River of Grass.
Artists, Edwin Villasmil and Elba Martinez, who created Everglades Forever an installation currently on view in the Main Library’s 2nd floor exhibition space, will host an afternoon of exhibitions, workshops, art-making, music, food, discussion and a public art installation illustrating the potential effects of global warming on Miami.
Make art with Villasmil and Martinez; see a special preview version of Everything’s Cool, a feature documentary and “toxic comedy” about global warming from Toxic Comedy Pictures and Working Films; listen to latin jazz fusion with spoken word poetry from The Oscar Fuentes Combo, and more!
