The Miami-Dade Public Library System invites residents of all neighborhoods to visit its newest art exhibits at the Main Library’s Auditorium. With The Spectacle of Sound and the Vasari Project exhibits, guests will also be able to enjoy two outstanding performances featuring Luis Gomez Imbert, Orlando Garcia and Gustavo Matamoros on Saturday, June 26, at 2:00 p.m. totally free of charge.

The Spectacle of Sound involves collaborations and exchanges between artists from the visual and the performing arts as well as with individuals involved in scientific and technical pursuits. Showing their brilliant works, this exhibition features a small selection of works from painters, sculptors and photographers who have incorporated sound into their work, or have drawn inspiration from sounds, or who see what they do as being part of an aesthetic where the boundaries between image, sound and movement are vague. All ages will enjoy the exhibit.

An archival sampling is brought through The Vasari Project, a collection of materials from artists, collectors, and institutions of the visual arts in Miami-Dade County. It is a project of the Lbrary System and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. An outgrowth of the Library System’s artists’ files and Permanent Collection, the Vasari Project’s mission is to identify, collect and maintain materials relative to the development of the visual arts in Miami-Dade County from 1945 to its current position as a major center of visual artists and new work. An ongoing project, the archive is a resource for scholarship, research, and innovation. This exhibition is a sampling of the materials that have come to the library.
