Join the Circle of Knowledge @ Your Miami-Dade Public Library during National Library Week!
(MIAMI, March 18, 2008) - Since 1958, libraries around the nation have celebrated National Library Week as a way to commemorate the contributions of the nation's libraries and librarians. This is a time to highlight the value of libraries in providing educational, recreational and cultural opportunities to people of all ages.
National Library Week 2008 will be observed April 13-19, but the Miami-Dade Public Library System has expanded it to a month-long celebration. During the month, community leaders will read to children at all branch locations. These special readers include Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez, members of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, state and municipal elected officials, educators, police officers, artists and other leading members of the community. Patrons can also enjoy special programs at their local branches.
