Miami-Dade, Fl – The community is invited to join Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez, Commissioner Dorrin D. Rolle and the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, and County Manager George Burgess on Thursday, March 15 at 10:30 a.m. for a ribbon-cutting ceremony inaugurating the state-of-the art Golden Glades Branch Library.
The library, located at 100 N.E. 166 Street, houses a collection of more than 20,000 books, DVDs, audio books and periodicals. The library is open Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.; Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and closed Fridays and Sundays.
The Golden Glades Branch Library is the first library to be built since 1985 when the new Main Library in downtown Miami opened. It is the first of 10 new libraries to be constructed by 2011 as part of the Library System’s Capital Plan. Five libraries are currently under construction.
