Welcome to the Miami-Dade Public Library System

Celebrate Women’s History Month at Miami-Dade Public Libraries

    spacer

Miami-Dade, FL- The Miami-Dade Public Library System will host a series of events in March to celebrate the achievements of women who have helped to build our nation through their leadership, innovation and creativity. The Library System’s observance of this event will highlight their unique contributions and recognize those who have helped to break down barriers. Activities throughout the month include author appearances and theatrical performances at library branches throughout the county.

Join author Heidi W. Boehringer, as she discusses how her dream of becoming a published author became a reality. Boehringer will also read excerpts from her first novel, Chasing Jordan; answer questions; and sign books, at the Sunny Isles Branch Library, on March 3, at 3 p.m. and at the South Miami Branch Library on March 10, at 1 p.m.

New York-based artist Alexis Caputo will present excerpts from two of her solo performance works at the South Dade Regional Library on March 6, at 7 p.m. and at the Miami Beach Regional Library on March 8, at 7 p.m. In the Proud Pilgrim, Caputo traces her journey during a period of resistance in which a poetic voice is given as a reason for being and living. In Deconstruction & Deliverance, a theatrical piece, she blends text; movement and media images with the use of the spoken word, and poetry to tell compelling stories of African American life in the South and New York City.
