Library Museum Pass Program

Your FREE entry to art, culture, entertainment and so much more!

Miami-Dade Public Library System proudly presents the Museum Pass! Just visit your nearest branch library, see staff for availability and use your library card to check out a museum pass. The Museum Pass offers patrons FREE admission for a family of four to the Deering Estate at Cutler, Fruit & Spice Park, HistoryMiami, Miami Art Museum, Miami Children's Museum, Miami Science Museum, and Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.

How the pass works:

  • Pass is good for up to a family of four.*
  • Pass is good for one visit.
  • Pass is not renewable or available for reserve.
  • Pass is valid for seven days from the time of check out.
  • Passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Pass will not be replaced if lost or stolen.
  • Only one pass may be checked out at a time.

* Deering Estate passes, a family of four is two adults and two children ages 4-14.
* Fruit & Spice Park passes, a family of four is two adults and two children ages 6-11.

Museums may apply restrictions including blackout dates or separate admission to special event/exhibits.

Directions:

From Downtown Miami – Take I-95 south to South Dixie Highway; continue south to SW 168th Street. Turn left and travel east. Cross Old Cutler Road and the Visitor’s Center is about ½ block on the right. There is parking available at the Visitor’s Center or along 72nd Avenue

From the Turnpike – Travel south to SW 152nd Street Exit (Coral Reef Drive). Continue east to Old Cutler Road. Turn right on Old Cutler Road and travel south to SW 168th Street. Turn left and the Visitor’s Center is about ½ a block on the right. There is parking available at the Visitor’s Center or along 72nd Avenue.

Hours of Operation:
Open every day except Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day.
10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (last ticket sold at 4 p.m.)

The Deering Estate at Cutler – a Miami-Dade County Park – is a 444-acre natural and archeological preserve and historic site. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the estate serves as a center for education, culture and recreation. EcoAdventure Tours are also offered throughout the year for an additional fee.

Directions:

From the north or Miami Beach – Take I-95 south to US 1 (S. Dixie Hwy.) Go south on US 1 to SW 42nd Ave. (LeJeune Rd.). Turn left on SW 42nd Ave., and drive south to roundabout. Enter roundabout and take 2nd right onto Old Cutler Rd. Drive 2 miles on Old Cutler Road. Fairchild entrance will be on your left.

From the south or the Florida Keys – Take US 1 (S. Dixie Hwy.) north to SW 152 Street (Coral Reef Drive). Turn right, heading east on 152 Street to Old Cutler Road. Turn left onto Old Cutler Road heading north. Drive past SW 120 Street and to the intersection of SW 57 Avenue (Red Rd.) and Old Cutler Road. Turn right on to Old Cutler Road and continue north for one mile. Fairchild entrance will be on your right.

From northwest of Miami – Take highway I-75 to highway 826. Go south on 826 to Sunset Drive. Exit at Sunset Drive east, and drive east on Sunset to its end at a roundabout. Enter the roundabout and take your 1st right on to Old Cutler Road. You will see a sign for Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Drive south two miles from the roundabout to Fairchild. The entrance will be on your left.

Closed on Christmas Day.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is dedicated to exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants. It is one of the premier conservation and education-based gardens in the world and a recognized international leader in both Florida and international conservation. Currently Fairchild has field programs in over 20 countries including support to protected areas in Madagascar and Africa and botanic garden development and renovation projects in South and Central America, the Caribbean and Middle East. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden houses palm and cycad collections that are nationally recognized by the American Public Gardens Association, has the world’s greatest living collection of palms and cycads; an education program reaching more than 70,000 school children per year; hosts popular events like the International Chocolate Festival, International Mango Festival and International Orchid Festival, the Edible Garden Festival, the Ramble, concerts, affiliated plant society shows and sales and more; and, is a not-for-profit organization relying on the support of its 45,000 members and benefactors.

9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Fruit & Spice Park hosts more than 500 varieties of fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, nuts, and other commercially important plant specimens from around the world. Take a guided tour conducted daily at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m.

From the north – Take I-95 southbound – Downtown. Exit at NW 8th St. (Exit 3B / Port of Miami/Orange Bowl). Turn left onto NW 2nd St. Turn right onto NW 2nd Ave. The museum is two blocks south, on the left with the parking garage on the right.

From the south – Take I-95 northbound. Exit at NW 2nd St.- (Arenas / Exit 2B) and turn right. Turn right again at NW 2nd Ave. The museum is two blocks south on the left with the parking garage on the right.

From the east –Take I-395/MacArthur Causeway westbound. Exit onto Biscayne Blvd. (Arenas / Exit 2). Turn left onto Biscayne Blvd. Proceed south approximately ¼ mile. Turn right onto E. Flagler St. Turn right onto NW 2nd Ave. The museum is on the right and the parking garage on the left.

From west – Go east on West Flagler St. Turn left onto NW 2nd Ave. The museum is on the right and the parking garage on the left.

MAM is dedicated to collecting and exhibiting international art of the 20th and 21st centuries with an emphasis on the cultures of the Atlantic Rim – the Americas, Europe and Africa – from which the vast majority of Miami residents hail. Recently, Miami Art Museum has presented exhibitions of works by Janet Cardiff and George Buress Miller, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Quisqueya Henriquez, Guillermo Kuitca, Wifredo Lam, Susan Rothenberg and Yinka Shonibare, and its permanent collection includes works by  Doug Aitken, José Bedia, Mark Dion, Marcel Duchamp, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Ann Hamilton, Arturo Herrera, Alfredo Jaar, Sol LeWitt, Vik Muniz, Wangechi Mutu, Robert Rauschenberg, Gerhard Richter, James Rosenquist, Tomas Saraceno, Lorna Simpson and Rachel Whiteread.

From the north or south – Take I-95 northbound or southbound. Exit at I-395/MacArthur Causeway toward Miami Beach. Exit right at Watson Island and follow the road to the museum. The museum and parking are on the left.

From the east – Take I-395/MacArthur Causeway toward Miami. Exit right at Watson Island. Turn left at the stop sign. Follow the curved road all the way to cross back under the interstate. The museum and parking are on the right.

From the west – Take 836 east. Exit onto I-395/MacArthur Causeway. Exit right at Watson Island and follow the road to the museum. The museum and parking are on the left.

Founded in 1983, Miami Children’s Museum is dedicated to enriching the lives of all children by fostering a love of learning and enabling children to reach their highest potential. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to play together, learn, imagine and create. The 56,500-square-foot facility includes 14 galleries, classrooms, and a 200-seat auditorium. The museum offers hundreds of bilingual, interactive exhibits; programs and classes, including special needs classes; Subway restaurant; KidSmart educational gift shop and learning materials related to arts, culture, community and communication.

Directions:

From the north – Take I-95 to Exit #1A/SW 25 Road, stay in the right hand lane and follow the signs to the Museum/Planetarium.

From the south – Follow U.S. 1 and make right just before the split with I-95. From Metrorail, exit at the Vizcaya Station and cross U.S. 1 via the pedestrian overpass.

The Miami Science Museum aims to make a difference in people’s lives by inspiring them to appreciate the impact that science and technology can have on every facet of our world. For over 60 years, MiaSci’s award-winning educational programs, family-focused exhibits, historic planetarium, and rehabilitative Wildlife Center and Clinic have enriched locals and tourists alike. MiaSci is accredited by the American Association of Museums and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.

From the north – Take I-95 south to Exit 1A, turn right onto South Miami Avenue and turn left at 3rd light into Vizcaya.

From the south – Take US 1 (South Dixie Highway) north to SW 17th Avenue. Turn right on SW 17th Avenue (east). Turn left onto South Bayshore Drive. Turn right at 5th light into Vizcaya

From the west –  Take 836 east and exit onto I-95 south. Follow I-95 south to Exit 1A. Turn right onto South Miami Avenue. Turn left at 3rd light into Vizcaya.

Open daily except Tuesdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day from
9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is a Miami-Dade County facility that is accredited by the American Association of Museums and distinguished as a United States National Historic Landmark. With its phenomenal human-made and natural resources, Vizcaya was built in the 1910's, a decade in which Gilded Age cultural standards were enlivened by the irreverent spirit of the dawning Jazz Age. It also introduces visitors to Miami’s place in this history – a time when America’s wealthiest industrialists created lavish homes inspired by the palaces of Europe.
