Miami-Dade Public Library Foundation Celebrates Books & Books 25th Anniversary
More than 60 leading local authors will toast Books & Books owner Mitchell Kaplan for his nurturing of literacy in Miami-Dade County and his support of the Miami-Dade Public Library on Saturday, October 13, 7:00 – 10:00pm, at the Miami Beach Regional Library, 227 22nd Street, Miami Beach.
Les Standiford, author of the acclaimed Last Train to Paradise, will serve as master of ceremonies for an evening of authors. Among them: Dave Barry, Edna Buchanan, Jim DeFede, John Dufresne, Beth Dunlop, James Hall, Brad Meltzer, Ana Menendez, Mirta Ojito, Ana Veciana-Suarez and Dan Wakefield.
The evening benefits Miami-Dade Public Library System’s Literacy program Project L.E.A.D. (Literacy for Every Adult in Dade), offering adult learners who are functionally illiterate free, confidential, one-on-one tutoring.
Participants will enjoy food from some of the area’s top restaurants. Among them: Ortanique, Café Avanti, Caffe Abracci, John Martin Pub, Gourmet Creations, TiramesU, Paul, Talula, and The Café at Books & Books. There will also be live music by three bands with liquor from Bacardi and varieties of wine.
