North Dade Regional
The North Dade Regional Library opened to the public in September of 1979, and serves a multicultural community. The branch is conveniently located one block east of University Drive (27th avenue) and the Miami Gardens Shopping Plaza. It houses approximately 180,000 volumes, is completely automated, and offers the latest technology. Access to the Internet and online databases are in great demand in this branch library. A full line of popular CDs, videos, and magazines is also available to the public.
The North Dade Regional Library has a large programming room and two conference rooms for family programs and special events. The Childrens Story Theater provides comfortable seating for young patrons who attend many of the special programs. Puppet shows, story times and creative dramatics are regular features in this Childrens department.
The Library is the home to several special collections, including the rare Schomburg Clipping files and one of the most comprehensive reference collections pertaining to Black Studies in South Florida.
