Mij Byram Telling Stories to Young Children with Mij Byram
This master class for teachers, librarians, parents and grandparents will use lively discussion and activities to teach why and how to tell stories to the toughest audience – children ages 2-8! You will learn how to build character, promote literacy through stories, create energy and excitement while retaining control and holding their attention.

For 20 years, Mij has educated and entertained children with traditional and original stories. A board member of the Florida Storytelling Association and president of the Palm Beach County Storytelling Guild, she has a degree in Children’s Creative Play and extensive experience in preschools, community centers, play centers and private homes.

Alton Chung Family Storytelling with Alton Chung
This workshop is designed for novice and beginning storytellers to help you become more comfortable with telling stories and how to pass on basic storytelling techniques to others. Topics include: basic story structure, folk and fairy tales, and writing new material. Participants will also learn basic interview techniques for collecting family oral histories, conducting basic research, and writing personal stories. You will also learn different techniques of how to practice stories and prepare for a performance. Learn how to use voice, gestures, and body language to embody and bring characters to life.
